(OK, I forgot to take a before pic until we had already removed a few of the drawers)
I was determined to keep this dresser and give it a brand new look that would fit into her glamorous new bedroom.
Once I had him convinced we started sanding.....
I knew we were going to paint it, so I didn't bother sanding it all the way down. I've learned a few tricks since this first project, and now on most projects I hardly have to sand at all.
I decided to use a gray primer, because the plan was to paint it a darker color (I was thinking black but hadn't decided yet) then distress it and I wanted the gray to show through. But once I painted it with the gray primer I decided I kind of liked that color. I knew, however, it needed something to make it super glam.....so I used a Martha Stewart metallic glaze to make it a super glam silver dresser. Then we gave those old brass dresser pulls an updated look with a super hot black matte finish.
It's not perfect, but that's part of what I LOVE about this dresser! It's super cute (I mean totally grown-up and super glam :)) and really looks great in this bedroom makeover. The most important part?.... My daughter loved it!!
Stay tuned and I'll put up some pics of the entire room makeover that included paint (you can see the color we chose in the pic above), a chandelier, a new bed, and floor-to-ceiling curtains.
After how much I loved this room, I haven't been able to stop! I've been finding pieces of furniture (some of it already in my house :) that need a little love and giving them completely new looks.
